Caught Sleeping: Tyro: Sophie’s Apology EP

Filling the Disclosure-shaped void in your heart
So now that Disclosure are a household name, getting silver freaking records and reaching no. 2 in the UK iTunes charts, naturally you're thinking you can never ever listen to them again. Well, maybe that's a bit harsh, but they're definitely not the same cool, phresh with a 'ph' underground duo they started off as.
Coming along right on time to fill the "cool credibility" void is Tyro, a production duo who original met in Coventry, England. The 23 year old team make deliciously modern house music that anyone and their granny could dance to. Sophie's Apology EP comes to us from the good peeps at Troupe Records, who have kindly offered it up as a free download. The title track of the EP, "Sophie's Apology" has become one of the most popular tracks I've played to people who wouldn't necessarily even know what house music is, or whose knowledge of electronic music starts and ends with Daft Punk.
Having already played nights with Zed Bias and Eliphino, this pair should be off to a very successful 2013. And hopefully we won't have their tunes overplayed to the point of disgust like a certain aforementioned group (I still love you Disclosure, just please go back to making songs like Carnival that people can't sing in their bedrooms).
