Caught Sleeping: SOPHIE- Nothing More To Say (Jackmasters Dub)

Posted in Caught Sleeping

Not much is known about the mysterious SOPHIE other than that he emerged from Huntleys + Palmers, a London-based record label and party that was founded by a handful of Glaswegians. It's no wonder then that his first release, "Nothing More To Say," has seen the most support from Jackmaster (pictured above), Glasgow's best party starter and part owner of the Numbers label. He has played the song before on both his label's Rinse FM show and while in the mix for Skream and Benga's BBC Radio 1 In New DJs We Trust show. Over the last several months it has also seen support from Jimmy Edgar, Spencer, Heidi and others.

The song recalls last year's excellent "Inspector Norse" in both its lighthearted nature and its similarities to a theme park joy ride. This is "It's A Small World" for the nightclub with neon lights and rushing synths replacing the boat ride and creepy wooden dolls. It was supposed to see a release on vinyl last week, but has yet to hit store shelves apparently. No word yet on what has caused the delay. In the meantime, you can pre-order this tune along with its b-side "Eeehhh" over at Rubadub and stream a rip of it via the YouTube player below.
