Video: TNGHT- Higher Ground

I was pretty excited by the first taste of TNGHT I got back in May. Hudson Mohawke and Lunice are two of the most talented and relentlessly innovative producers out there, drawing from the best parts of the past while always keeping an hand outstretched into the future. Now, my initial expectations have been a thousand times over by a banger of a track dripping with swagger. On the masterfully composed "Higher Ground", old school drum machines coalesce with wicked vocal chops and sneering brass samples, while a clap track carrying itself a s a drummer boy propels the song into tomorrow. There are about a dozen rappers I'd love to hear go over this beat, a desire on my part which isn't meant to discredit the track in any way. "Higher Ground" holds up brilliantly on its own, but is so immaculately constructed that it begs to have a talented MC go over it. TNGHT EP comes out July 23rd, You can pre-order it from Bleep now.
