Theophilus London: Rose Island Vol. 1
Posted by Michael Washington
Earlier this week Brooklyn MC Theophilus London dropped his newest project Rose Island Vol. 1, which came in as the first piece of music the rapper has advanced since his debut full-length Timez Are Weird These Days dropped nearly a year ago. Thankfully, the lapse in time after that release didn't hinder his raw and versatile talent, as this mixtape presents the 25-year-old in perhaps his truest form to date, Other than featuring a collection of collaborations with high-profile acts such as Mark Ronson, SADE, Big Boi, and A$AP Rocky, the tape also showcases some of our favorite underground heros, such as Lunice, Machinedrum, and Jesse Boykins. Weirdly enough, this tape reminds me a lot of Theo's 2009 effort This Charming Mixtape, which happens to be the project that made me fall in love with him in the first place.
