OH GIRL U NASTY

I've been dying to write a blurb of adulation about Squarehead's new, free EP 'Girl' since he posted the teaser below – all the more so when I heard it in full. 19 years-old and going in hard, British-born Squarehead (aka Oliver Ledger) explains how this release comes having thought "more seriously" about his musical output over the last four years, and his decision to release the 4 choice cuts on his own imprint - 5ANDSEVEN Records.

“We created it to get some of my own stuff out that I had been sitting on for quite a while and after talking about it for about 6 months or so we decided 'why not?' and got things going.”

Get it going he does, with each track being a sexy little dancefloor flexer. His tribal flip-reversal of Janet Jackson’s ‘Nasty Boys’ for lead track ‘Girls’ is a personal favourite.

“With this first EP, we decided it would be a good introduction to the label and a good starting point. We thought it would be worth giving them out for free to get people interested before we start doing the proper releases. Forthcoming releases are still in the early stages but will have some more material from myself, and looking at that being on vinyl. Don’t want to give too much away at the moment though.”

For now, a free EP giveaway will do. Grab it here.
