BALLADS FOR DAZE

L-Vis 1990 has had a steady output of floor wrecking tunes as of late with efforts for his label's own Club Constructions series as well as his vinyl-only Jack for Daze EP on Clone. However, for his latest effort, the Night Slugs boss has switched his motive from kill to stun. Ballads will be a three-pack of widescreen tracks pushing the boundaries of dance music, while remaining wholly Night Slugs. "Ballad 4D" aka "that submarine tune" has been turning heads for some time, employing deep sea bass pressure and minimalist drum programming to up the tension and bring some sci-fi dread to the floor. "Not Mad," which was first released as part of the Night Slugs All Stars Volume 2 compilation, is the most club ready tune here- a heavy hitting dose of clunk funk and analog savagery offset by an absurdly white hot synth line. Finally, "Signal" ups the tension into a full blown horror show, utilizing frantic darts of technoid machinery and an expert weaving of open space over brown note leaning sub-bass.
