HALF A PERSIAN PRINCE AND

Samir Alikhanizadeh is a Leeds-based 15-year-old producer who goes by the name of Happa. Samir seems to be your standard British bloke-- he probably listens to music, plays pick-up football, loves his bangers and mash and wears skinny jeans and 5 panel caps -- but on second thought he is anything but that. Not only has his music been called "absolutely *phenomenal*" by Mary Anne Hobbs, but it has been rinsed out by the likes of Loefah and Ben UFO over on Rinse FM. Not to mention that his excellent remix of Four Tet's "Jupiters" will see an official release on Kieran Hebden's Text label alongside Jamie xx's remix of "Lion." Within the world of bass music, Samir's stock is rising fast. His first 12" comes out on November 19th via Church. "Beat Of The Drum" b/w "Bring It Back" is percussion-heavy UK underground dance music at its best. Want to find out what all this hype is about? Hit the YouTube players below to give Happa's next 12" a listen.
