Astro Nautico x Day Tripper: 7 by 7

Man, the guys over at Astro Nautico are far too kind. Their mammoth 'Atlantics Vol. 2' mixtape has been bumping on my portable music device for the last few months, followed more recently by Space Ghost's dreamy 'You're There LP' (both were and still are available for free download btw).

Last week, they released '7 by 7', described as 'a transpacific project' between them and INNIT/Day Tripper Records. The songs included by each of the label's rosters respectively sample two versions of the same film: 7 members of Astro Nautico sampling Kurosawa’s 'The Seven Samurai' and conversely, 7 members of Japan-based INNIT doing the same to the westernized version, 'The Magnificent Seven'. The result is as peculiar as it is powerful, with me left immediately hankering for my next Astro Nautical fix.
