Although this was scheduled to drop three months ago this past June, we finally have the new single from Diplo and Switch’s collaborative project Major Lazer, entitled “Original Don”. The single was premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, along with two other new Major Lazer demos. Still no word on when the sophomore ML album will drop, but the LP is allegedly set to feature contributions from Vybz Kartel (who was just recently charged with murder), Dirty Projectors singer Amber Coffman, Vampire Weekend, Sean Paul, Wiley, and Bruno Mars.

We all know and love Star Slinger for his chopped up soul samples and thick-layered beats, but for this new remix here done for the song “New Beat” by Toro Y Moi, the UK producer decided to go a totally different route. “I didn’t wanna make a typical soulbeat when i was asked to do this, so made a riddim instead,” said the Manchester native of the remix. The Very Best formed because of an exchange over a bicycle. Once upon a time, the group was a trio consisting of Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and the London-based producer duo Radioclit. It has since been reduced to two as one of the Radioclit members jumped ship. The electronic pop group has released three records. Their latest as a duo, Super Mom, was released this past Mother’s Day.
This mixtape asserts an energizing balance between joyful tribal feels and modern-based electronics. The duo gets some ridiculous help from guests Kanye West, Billy Idol, Cee-Lo, LCD Soundsystem, Kate Bush, Rusko, and African Boy, to name a few. Super Mom is intended to be a “celebration of Africa” and a “celebration of every mother in the world.”

It’s not often that we would post the refix of a “shuffle,” but when The Heatwave‘s refix of Jamie xx’s shuffle of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” appeared on YouTube earlier this morning we knew that we had heard something special. The Heatwave are a collective out of London with a weekly Rinse FM show who specialize in making bashment (dancehall) music and mixes. Featuring vocals from Cecile, Mr Lexx and Timberlee this refix takes no holds bar in their mission to, “show how dancehall is the root of jungle, garage, grime, dubstep and funky.”
“What do Givers give? It is an often overlooked, yet all too important question concerning these starry-eyed melodi-mystic rebels. They take hearts, this much is known.
