You know what makes Drop The Lime cooler than your average electro producer? His fond appreciation for music that is NOT electro. Check out this live set he did at the Notting Hill Carnival music festival a couple weeks ago. Before going into the wobbly, bass heavy tunes that he’s known for, the first 10 minutes of his set is an ode to his favorite 1950′s doo-wop songs. I mean, who else does that shit? At a festival in front of people who for the most part probably have no idea who you are…you open with doo-wop? That’s pretty damn badass if you ask me…oh, and I almost forgot to mention the rest of his set fire as well. Trouble & Bassstand up.
“I Need A Dollar” by Aloe Blacc is a song that speaks of life’s financial hardships and the everyday struggle to make it for one’s self. Originally an emotionally heavy tune, producer Oliver $ has flipped the script of the song and given it a more bright and uplifting feel. With help from some high flying trumpets, a bouncy beat, and a well used piano riff, this remix almost makes being poor and jobless sound fun…almost.

Diplo has released a playlist of his top songs from this July on Beatport and GOOD LORD is it monstrous. Tracks from familiar names such as Drop The Lime, Douster, and Boy 8-bit–but also a bunch from people we have never even heard of before. That doesn’t scare us though, because we have come know that whatever Diplo puts his name on, is gonna be big. Highly highly recommend grabbing this playlist–you can view, listen, and buy all of the songs on Beatport HERE. Now we couldn’t let you go without giving you at least one freebee: here is one of our favorite from the list, by one of the dudes we know absolutely nothing about- Canblaster. This song is so bootylicious…yes I said bootylicious. Get it now below:
