BEAMER BENZ OR BENTLEY
05.15
The homie Trevor McFedries aka Dj Skeet Skeet just sent over a new edit he did of the new Lloyd Banks’ single “Beamer Benz or Bentley” and jeezus is it fresh. Skeet Skeet never seizes to amaze me with his ability to make every remix he does sound completely different than the last. He’s the kind of producer that has so much damn musical intelligence that it gives him the power to remix any kind of song he wants, any way he feels–he’s got the whole playing field in his hands. Check out his new Lloyd Banks edit below and compare it to some of his other recent productions. When it comes to remixing, Skeet Skeet’s style is impeccable– and when you see him live, which I strongly suggest, that same sort of “swagger” he displays in his productions is exhibited strongly in his sets.

A KISS OF SUMMER

Let electronic duo Pallers take you away from the dreadful time we all know as finals week, into warm summer nights and care-free days. Their new single, “The Kiss” is a wistful, relaxing, beauty of a song that is sure to make your troubles and stresses float away.

REMIX SESSION

To me, what makes a remix good remix is one that has the ability to keep the integrity of the original while emitting a new kind of feeling. Along with the aforementioned qualities, a great remix will feature a distinct sound original to that producer making the remix. This post is dedicated to a few awesome remixes (some old and some new) that have been in rotation for me for awhile now:
First off, we have a new one from producers Midnight Conspiracy, who is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This time around the trio brings us their take on Crystal Castles‘ “Crimewave”. Midnight Conspiracy adds some fuzzy, echoing synths to give it their signature 80′s feel.

“Get ‘Em High” was one of the first songs from Kanye that I really loved and still do. A-Trak gives this classic jam new life by adding some deep synthwork on it. To me the remix combines the old Kanye with the new and I can only hope his new album (said to be released this fall) will have a feel similar to A-Trak’s remix.
Kanye West- Get ‘Em High (A-Trak Remix)
This next one isn’t brand new but is definitely a quality remix. The Kids Are Radioactive do a wonderful job here mashing up Ra Ra Riot‘s Indie-Rock hit ”Can You Tell” with a great up-beat Electro pulse. At first the combination is almost too different to work, but at the first drop everything comes together to create an unexpectedly awesome Electro-banger.

The final cut in this Remix Session comes from none-other than the Cockney Thug himself, Rusko. His latest release features a different but awesome remix of Sub Focus & Coco‘s new single ”Splash”. This remix is very up-beat and House-y–not your everyday Rusko feel. However, he still provides you with enough bass and atmospherics to get your feet moving and your brain rattling.

Chromeo’s “Night by Night” has been in constant rotation since its debut a few months ago. I just really love Chromeo’s retro style. Then Skream gave us his dubstep take on the 80′s banger, I thought there was no way it could get any better. Now it seems as if I have spoke too soon; Louis Kha of Midnight Conspiracy hit me up with their take on it and man did they deliver. Changing the structure of the song but still keeping the overall 80′s feel to it, the trio puts an electro rock spin on it, adding to the rager-status of the track. From what I can tell, this threesome is one of the hottest acts coming out of the Chicago underground dance scene, so take a listen and be on the look-out for Midnight Conspiracy.
