OIL MONEY

Sometimes, when I receive a new song that features a lot of my favorite artists, I get over excited and build the song up so much that, no matter how good or bad the song is, it never entirely lives up to my expectations. See, that was the case here with this new song “Oil Spill.” However after a couple days of listening to it (in various states of mind), I’ve come to the conclusion that this song is much greater than I originally stamped it as. Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys mans the chorus like only he could, adding that perfect touch of the blues to the track that compliments each artist to perfection. Freddie Gibbs, Chuck Inglish (The Cool Kids), Chip tha Ripper, and the man Bun B combine their forces, ultimately culminating in gold. This is one of those “summer day ridin’ with the windows down” type of tracks that helps you momentarily forget about how much alcoholic poison you consumed the night before. You can find this gem on Freddie Gibbs’ upcoming album Str8 Killa dropping August 3rd. Enjoy:

DATSIK “MELLOW STEP EP”

That’s right, a new EP from one of the biggest names in dubstep, Mr. Datisik. But I wouldn’t go breaking out the ol’ grime face just yet–this Mellow Step EP sees the artist in a different light other than the usual filth you would come to expect. For me, the remix of Coldplay‘s “Fix You” shines the brightest, but I highly recommend getting them all. Let us know what you think.

TRILLWAVE

Trillwave is the newest mixtape from Chicago duo The Hood Internet. While their ongoing mixtape series has been built around genre-blending party starters, Trillwave is the soundtrack to the party after the afterparty, or maybe to a sun-drenched backyard barbecue the next day. Drake sips iced tea with Beach House, Ice Cube cruises through South Central L.A. with CFCF riding shotgun, and Birdman and Lil Wayne share a blunt with Washed Out. If you’re still clueless to who The Hood internet are, these dudes make the best mash-ups this side of the web. So go freshen up, download Trillwave, cop some Bacardi and get this party started.”
