“Ellipsis,” the straight forward house tune that has been floating around DJ sets across the pond for well over a year, is finally set to see a vinyl release next month on Hinge Finger, the label run by Will Bankhead (of The Trilogy Tapes) and Joy Orbison. This is good news for vinyl addicts and bassheads alike, because it seemed like the track might end up being another one of those UK dubplates that never sees an actual release.
On May 31st, the Joy Orbison tune that samples the “we just used to like… do our own thing” phrase– a quote that more or less embodies the current ethos of the UK Bass scene– will be released alongside a remix from Shed’s Head High alias. Pre-order the tune here and stream a rip of it below.
BONUS: Download/stream Joy Orbison’s exlusive hour long mix for The Trilogy Tapes x Hinge Finger. Like any Joy Orbison mix, it is top notch.
Our dude Tom Richman has kept moderately quiet since our Introducing feature on him a few months ago, which bestowed a plethora of trap dignified soundscapes, including a few production pieces for outlandish Kansas City rapper Maal A Goomba. It seems Richman has taken a liking to collaborating with eccentric, left-field MC’s, as his latest offering comes as a beat for buzzing NYC rapper Le1f, who’s known best for utilizing his gay/homosexual background to step outside the confines of “traditional” rap music. Entitled “&Gomorrah” and off Le1f’s Dark York mixtape–which was called by the Fader “one of the most provocative rap releases so far this year“–the song demonstrates why Tom Richman is one of the most interesting producers to emerge so far in 2012, lacing Le1f’s bravado rhymes with a trudging, grime-influenced instrumental that boils and simmers as the song goes on–remaining on the tipping point of craziness but never going over. Download the song now below, and while you’re at it peep the rest of Le1f’s mixtape, which features production from Nguzunguzu, Morri$, 5kinAndBone5, and more.

Breach aka Ben Westbeech visited Boiler Room recently to drop a 35 minute mix for the London-based live stream. This short (yet sweet) mix of UK Garage-inspired tunes features a unreleased cut from George FitzGerald as well as the latest from Justin Martin. It’s perfect for your next commute to work or class.
In case you couldn’t already tell, we have had a long standing love affair with London label Night Slugs and the consistently good music to come out of it and it’s solid roster of producers/DJs. We already told you about their new Club Constructions series and now they are coming in strong with a few more newsworthy bits and pieces. Next up from the Night Slugs camp is the long awaited return of club heavyweight Girl Unit. The man also known as Philip Gamble is set to see the release of his Club Rez EP on May 7th. The EP will feature 6 new and original productions. Preview a rip of the EP’s title track via YouTube below.
Yesterday, Night Slugs also debuted a “new series of official Night Slugs mixtapes.” That will serve as “an in-house platform that will allow the key DJs in the camp to open up their collections and showcase their individual styles. Each volume will act as a DJ’s manifesto, stacking up to shape the wider NS universe. The first instalment in the series is mixed by label executive DJ Bok Bok.”
You can stream/download “NSMIX001″ below along with another Night Slugs freebie– Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990‘s remix of French House producer Surkin‘s “Gold Island.” Bok Bok’s mix showcases the four-to-the-floor riddims that put Night Slugs on the map in the London club scene to begin with and closes out with an unreleased tune from Kansas-born friend of the blog, Morri$. Be on the look out for a Night Slugs release from him in the future.

Our brothers from another mother M|O|D have finally released their long awaited M|O|D II compilation. Too many rachet tunes to handle on this one, download it now below and go scare some old people with it.
We couldn’t be more excited about the new class of progressive electronic producers that have popped up this year, and one of the newcomers that happens to be at the forefront of it all is none other than LuckyMe affiliate Obey City. After blowing us away with his leaned-out-smoked-out take on Schoolboy Q’s “Blessed”, the Brooklyn-based beatmaker has lended his superb remix ability to Baauer’s newest gem “My Head”, a trap-induced flip that still holds dear to the original’s seductive tendencies. Check it out now below.
