LE1F- &GOMORRAH (PROD. BY TOM RICHMAN)

Our dude Tom Richman has kept moderately quiet since our Introducing feature on him a few months ago, which bestowed a plethora of trap dignified soundscapes, including a few production pieces for outlandish Kansas City rapper Maal A Goomba. It seems Richman has taken a liking to collaborating with eccentric, left-field MC’s, as his latest offering comes as a beat for buzzing NYC rapper Le1f, who’s known best for utilizing his gay/homosexual background to step outside the confines of “traditional” rap music. Entitled “&Gomorrah” and off Le1f’s Dark York mixtape–which was called by the Fader “one of the most provocative rap releases so far this year“–the song demonstrates why Tom Richman is one of the most interesting producers to emerge so far in 2012, lacing Le1f’s bravado rhymes with a trudging, grime-influenced instrumental that boils and simmers as the song goes on–remaining on the tipping point of craziness but never going over. Download the song now below, and while you’re at it peep the rest of Le1f’s mixtape, which features production from Nguzunguzu, Morri$, 5kinAndBone5, and more.

HELIX- DRUM TRACK / NO HOOKS NO BS FT. FLIRTA D

If you’ve read this blog before then you know how much we love Night Slugs. The post-grime/future house/contemporary bass/anything other than brostep label out of London is synonymous with everything we like our electronic dance music to sound like these days. So when we heard rumblings late last year that their next release would be from an American we had our hopes up, because the last American to release anything on Night Slugs (Kingdom) is one of our favorite DJs in the game right now.

Helix is from Georgia and has a knack for making grime instrumentals. His first release for Night Slugs is NSWL010. This white label release includes A side “Drum Track” and AA side “No Hooks No BS,” which features Grime MC Flirta D spitting bars at 1 million miles per hour over the A side. Preview the two tunes via the YouTube players below and pre-order the white label now over at Rubadub. (via XLR8R)

Bristol, UK dubstep kingpin Joker comes through with a video for “Back in the Days” featuring verses from grime MCs Buggsy, Scarz and Double as well as a hook from Shadz aka Javeon McCarthy, the same dude we’ve heard before in songs from the likes of L-Vis 1990 and Julio Bashmore. This track is taken from The Vision, Joker’s debut LP that is due out November 7th via 4AD. If you like to get grimey every once in a while like we do over at the LFTF offices then put this video on and rinse the fuck out of it.

TERROR DANJAH- FULL ATTENTION (STREAM)

It’s hard to talk about grime and not mention the genre’s stalwart producer/DJ Terror Danjah. Lately the man has turned to other labels such as Butterz to release a handful of EPs and 12-inches as well as Hyperdub to release last year’s massive Undeniable. Now the grime kingpin is back and ready to release a new 12″ on August 12th via his own Hardrive imprint. According to Hardrive’s tumblr, “‘Full Attention’ is the first step in the resurrection of [Terror Danjah's] patented ‘Rhythm & Grime’ sound, the style he made his name with in the early noughties with vocalists like Shola and Sade Ama.” This time around Terror will be utilizing the vocals of Ruby Lee Rider to accompany his instrumental. The digital version of the release will also feature a remix of “Full Attention” from Roska, the world’s finest purveyor of UK Funky. Stream a radio rip of the tune below and pre-order the 12″ here.
