CHIEF KEEF / KANYE WEST- I DON’T LIKE (REMIX)

posted by Mike Wash in Hip-Hop

After declaring it his absolute favorite song next to “Niggas In Paris”, Kanye West has gone and remixed “I Don’t Like” by 16-year-old Chicago upstart Chief Keef. Along with him, Ye’s brought his usual G.O.O.D. Music goons Big Sean and Pusha T, as well as New York legend Jadakiss. Aha! There was an absolutely atrocious radio/clean rip floating around earlier today, but here is the full CD quality/dirty version for your virgin ears. Full permission to shake your fictitious dreads to this one.

BRENTON DUVALL REMIXES DRAKE

Our long time friend Brenton Duvall–who rose to a substantial amount of fame a few years ago for his mash-up work–recently turned 21 years old, and with it, has announced that his sound will be making the leap into maturity as well. For the longest time, Brenton has struggled with not being able to create the innovative and forward-thinking material he’s capable of, in fear that his 10,000 person strong, mash-up loving fanbase would reject him for it. Well now officially an adult, the time has finally come for Brenton to emerge from out under his shell, and the first taste of his new direction arrives in the form of two instrumental Drake flips. Needless to say we fully support the transition from mash-up territory to a more sophisticated sound, and cannot wait to see what the future brings for our friend. Download Brenton Duvall’s rework of “Doing It Wrong” and “Crew Love” below.

What can we say about UK production duo Disclosure that we haven’t already? These two 20-something’s–who also happen to be brothers–have been killing the game as of late, with each new remix or original track coming in hotter than the last. Apparently, we’re not the only one’s who have taken notice of the duo, as FACT Mag have recently summoned the dudes for an official mix. The 46-minute ensemble bestows an intriguing look into the minds of Guy and Howard Lawrence, showcasing their unique taste of 90′s-tinged dance and techno spectrums. Download and stream the mix now below, which also features a few unreleased Disclosure jawns as well.

USHER- LEMME SEE (FEAT. RICK ROSS)

Last week, Usher debuted the second single off his upcoming album Looking For Myself. Entitled “Scream”, the song was a return to the shit radio club music Usher’s been known for in the past, and quite frankly if our ears could throw up, they would have after listening to that atrocious song. It was a monumental step back from the bold and dynamic first single “Climax”, and honestly had us ready to write off Looking For Myself all together.

Well today has brought in yet another new track off Usher ‘s forthcoming LP, and needless to say we were a little hesitant to give it a listen. But within a few seconds of “Lemme See”, what our ears experienced was not projectile vomiting, but actually quite the opposite. The song revels in the same burning energy as “Climax” does, advancing a subtle yet compelling beat for Usher’s voice to grab by the neck. The track also features a guest verse from Maybach Music teddy bear Ricky Rozay, which is never a bad look. You know what, fuck that, Rick Ross makes any song ten times better. Someone prove me wrong.

BODY HIGH’S MIX FOR FADER

Body High co-head honcho Samo Soundboy has become the latest mixologist to contribute to the infamous Fader mix series, lacing the magazine with an infinitely diverse set that explores the ever so deep burrows of the Body High crew’s sound. After witnessing the small California imprint completely take over SXSW and WMC this past March, we had a funny feeling that the label–which stars Todd Edwards, DJ Dodger Stadium, Myrryrs, and LFTF interviewee DJ Sliink–would be THE talked about label in 2012, and this mix here proves our theory. Featuring a grip load of unreleased Body High material–and a very necessary chopped & screwed edit of Miguel’s “Adorn”–download/stream the mix now below.

BRANDY- PUT IT DOWN (FEAT. CHRIS BROWN)

Absolutely loving this new one here from R&B songstress Brandy. Yes, that Brandy. Unlike some of the more standard, traditional radio R&B/pop tracks we’ve heard come from her in the past, “Put It Down” brings about a more edgier, badass feel to it. Now of course we can lend most of that to the song’s unique Bangladesh production, but with tracks like Usher’s “Climax”, and now this–it’s nice to see old school R&Bers step outside of their comfort zone, and get fresh with the times. “Put It Down”, which features a rapping Chris Brown, will appear on Brandy’s forthcoming album Two Eleven, slated for a release later this year. Stream the album’s lead single now below, and look for it out on iTunes May 8th.
