Damn, it has been too long since we’ve posted one of these. For this episode of Diggin’ In The Crates, I’ve decided to go waaayyy back… Like over a decade back.

Rock music has really come a long way since the late 90s/early 2000s. It was overly simplistic in that era. Anyone who strayed was considered too radical, and those that limited their creativity would ultimately survive the intense and sometimes ignorant scrutiny of the general public. But without creativity, progress is limited, and without progress, shit gets really boring really fast. Music needs to constantly be changing. It’s the only way to satisfy the demand of the never ending bottom feeders… people like us.

It Was Hot, We Stayed In The Water is considered one of the best albums to listen to with headphones. It’s an album that constantly flows; no part is similar to another. It’s either impossible to get bored or it loses you immediately. The record opens with “The Pull”. It’s a calm and curious track. Panned guitar strums that are somehow reminiscent of a flapping motion flutter in and out of the left and right channels. It’s a really wicked effect and sets the initial unconventional tone of the record. The tune then erupts into a chaotic mess of distorted everything. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how the rest of the album unfolds – totally nondescript and unexpected pockets of bizarre tones and segments that, as stated earlier, either immediately grab you or immediately dispose of your interest.
