PREMIERE: COSMIC REVENGE MIX FOR LFTFread post
Music is defined by its boundaries. What can and cannot be done limits a genre’s potential but also separates one from the others. The moment one bleeds into another, we are graced with a new genre, a subgenre, and shit usually just takes off from there. If we are to take boundaries one step further, remove the concept of a genre altogether, we will find that music is basically defined by the products that make it. Rock will always be guitars, drums, bass, keys, etc., but when we enter the realm of electronic music, things start to look a little less certain. The fluctuating nature of electronic music is rooted in technology. So long as technology advances there will be no stop to electronic music’s evolution. The bass genre in particular is highly susceptible to this type of change. We welcome this type of progression, especially when it produces something like Cure‘s newest tune, which is a rerub of a HxdB track. This track is riddled with strong snare, swelling synth, deep and reverberating kicks, and a stop-go mentality.
